Daily Questions for Creating Clarity
Ask yourself these questions every morning and see how it changes your life.
Feeling a bit blah lately? Maybe you're searching for a change that runs deeper. I totally get it. Some days, life can feel like a never-ending loop, like we're stuck in our own version of Groundhog Day. But guess what? It doesn't have to be that way.
So, the other day, I'm leading this Yin yoga class, and our theme was "grounding." It's Spring 2024, and let me tell you, transitioning from winter to spring has always been a struggle for me, mainly with allergies. Being a Vata constitution, I've learned that changes, especially seasonal ones, can really throw me off balance if I don't tend to things early. But let’s get back to grounding.
As I get older, I've come to realize the importance of setting up structure and habits in my life that keep me connected to my core. For me, grounding is also about knowing who I am and how I want to navigate each day. Sure, there are external things like getting into nature that help, but today, let's talk about the inner work—the stuff that challenges us day in and day out, but ultimately helps us lay our heads on the pillow at night feeling like we've grown a little stronger and wiser.
So, during the class, I shared something that really helps me find clarity and when I have more clarity I feel more grounded.
My "Daily Questions for Clarity"
These four questions pop up on my phone every morning, nudging me to reflect on what truly matters to me and the people in my life.
Who do I want to be today and how will I show up?
How do I want to react with others before every situation?
What skills must I develop or practice today?
How can I make a difference and feel it in my heart?
After I take a moment to reflect on these questions, I state my answers out loud and will revisit these questions throughout the day as gentle reminders of where I want to focus my energy. It's like my personal GPS for staying grounded in the midst of life's whirlwinds.
I invite you to try this practice of finding clarity everyday for a month and see how your life changes, you might be surprised.
Feel free to take a screenshot so you can store it on your phone (I will also post this on my social media pages too @samatreeca. DM me to let me know how it goes for you.). I am adding a small tutorial below on how to save a reminder on your iphone with photos attached.
Action: How to create a reminder with an image on an iPhone:
Go to the “reminders” app on your iphone
Create a reminder (+ plus sign at the bottom of your screen) in one of your folders. I used my personal goals folder.
Copy and paste (or type in): Daily Clarity Practice: 1. Who do I want to be today and how will I show up? 2. How do I want to react with others before every situation? 3. What skills must I develop or practice today? 4. How can I make a difference and feel it in my heart?
Click on the (letter i with a circle around it).
Select “date” 🗓️ (pick whichever date you’d like to start these reminders)
Select “time” (pick whatever time you’d like to have this reminder go off, ex: 8:30 am)
Select “repeat” then “daily” (arrow back when done)
Scroll down and select “Flag”
Select “Priority”- High
Select “Add image”; then select “Photo Library” (if this is where you stored the photo), find the photo of the “Daily Questions for Clarity”
Click “Done” in the top right portion of your screen to save. (When your reminder pops up you can click on the image as well!)
Tip: Reminders and alarms are some of the main things my clients use to create daily goals in their lives.
