Mindful Pogis: A Yoga & Mindfulness Program for Preschool Children
The Mindful Pogis Yoga Program includes secular activities with the goal of creating harmony with the 3B’s: Body, Brain & Breath for your preschooler.
Rachel Gonzalez, the founder and teacher of the Mindful Pogis Program has a mission to make the yoga and mindfulness experience accessible, fun and joyful for preschool children. Classes are creative, fun and playful to allow preschoolers to use their imagination as they learn simple yoga poses, mindful breathing and relaxation. Classes incorporate music, art, story-telling, cooperative games, mindful movement and activities as an introduction to yoga and mindfulness. (Preschoolers ages: 3.5 to 5 years old)
What is Taught
YOGA: By practicing yoga postures, our bones are brought into alignment and muscles are strengthened, gently stretched and relaxed. This helps to tone the nervous system, improve circulation and other body functions, promote flexibility and release tension.
Focusing on the breath brings the physical body in balance with the brain. With continued practice we become more integrated, focused and relaxed.
MINDFULNESS: Bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgement.
MINDFUL MEDITATION: A form of meditation of focused awareness on the breath that encourages a positive attitude for overall well being.
These are all taught in bite size pieces tailored for preschoolers.
The Mindful Pogis Program is an ongoing practice. Sessions are available in 6 week increments at at time. Each 6-week session is based on theme(s). Classes are structured to support the session theme(s). Themes include: Compassion; Kindness; Caring; Helping Others; Taking care of our environment; Gratitude; Connection and Creating Peace.

Rachel Gonzalez, RYT®200, RCYT®, Mindfulness Facilitator, Author of The Mindful Child Journal
Registered Yoga Teacher, Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher and Mindfulness Facilitator. Rachel became a yoga teacher to be of service to others, especially children who are very dear to her heart. Her Pogis call her Mrs. G for short. Rachel has practiced meditation for over 20 years and has expanded training in Yoga and Mindfulness. Along with her personal training with mindfulness, Rachel has also trained with Mindful Schools.
